Fancy your own concierge? You can now find them – in retirement villages and land lease communities

Many retirement living communities are now offering a ‘concierge’ service for residents – just like a hotel.

This week, not-for-profit retirement living and aged care provider Bolton Clarke unveiled plans for its first Victorian retirement village in St Kilda, which will provide a concierge to manage everything from deliveries and dog walking to bookings for the on-site share car and ensure the building is secure.

They are not the only provider to move to this next level of service.

Not-for-profit AdventCare is providing a concierge service five days a week, with services coordinated and delivered by the provider, at its new Pavilions Blackburn Lake retirement village in Melbourne.

Other operators are also promoting ‘care concierges’ where personal care, support services, transport and clinical care can all be coordinated by a concierge.

Land lease operator Ingenia has its own resident care planning service that checks residents every six months at no cost, plus advisory services for residents.

Sounds like a sales pitch – but they do serve a serious purpose. If someone can be supported in their own home, they can stay living at home longer – isn’t that what we all want?
