In the latest episode of Trump’s ‘how to make blood boil’ show, the US President has compared his legal battles to the mob murders of African Americans.
Mr Trump, who is under investigation for a raft of issues including his handling of US policy on Ukraine, described his impeachment as a “lynching” in a tweet.

“So some day, if a Democrat becomes President and the Republicans win the House, even by a tiny margin, they can impeach the President, without due process or fairness or any legal rights. “All Republicans must remember what they are witnessing here — a lynching. But we will WIN!”
The response was swift.
His tweet ignited a social media firestorm which spilled into the real world with condemnation from both sides of politics.
Historically, lynchings involved black men being hung, shot or burned alive by mobs of white men as a racially charged form of vigilante justice in the late 19th century.
It’s fair to assume Trump was trying to draw attention away from the findings of his impeachment with the inflammatory comparison.
But the fate of his Presidency still hangs in the balance.
Stay tuned.
