TLC Healthcare are known as innovators in the aged care sector so it’s hardly surprising that virtual reality technology is part of its wellbeing programs.
Their latest venture, rolled out specifically for their flagship aged care home in the Melbourne suburb of Clifton Hill, is next level though.
Working with leading virtual reality developers, TLC has adapted SeeWall technology which projects a 4.5 metre image from floor to ceiling for use by aged care residents with limited mobility.
Interactive programs allow residents to touch and throw objects at the virtual canvas – such as a ball – promoting dexterity and both physical and mental activity.
Stuart McKenzie, the Technical Program Manager at TLC, says: “We have had virtual reality technology in our homes for several years, but this new technology provides our residents with tailored physical activities, that are also fun to do.”
I reckon this idea would go down well in many offices – to reduce stress, of course.
