Boar semen smugglers land in jail

0

It’s no laughing matter when the country’s biosecurity is put at risk, and a pair of Aussie farmers have found themselves in jail after they tried to smuggle boar semen into the country.

The pair pleaded guilty to breaking biosecurity and quarantine laws for trafficking the Danish pig semen concealed in shampoo bottles in their luggage.

Torben Soerensen, who is a managing director and pork producer at a pork company received a three-year prison sentence, whilst his production manager Henning Laue, was sentenced to two years.

And as if that wasn’t bad enough the company GD Port Torben Soerensen was fined $500,000.

The question we’re all asking is why put the country at risk and their own livliehoods?

Apparently, Danish pigs are more fertile than Australian pigs.
