The new technology uses portable smart phones and tablets to give nursing and care staff real-time updates on residents’ data – and allows them to respond faster.
Nurses and carers will be able to view and add notes to patient data instantly, which will then be automatically logged for them while they continue to assist their residents. They won’t need to go back and forth – like in a traditional nurses’ station.
The first 20 residents who are about to call the new PresCare Protea facility in Townsville home will be the first in the country to try the new system out – but there’s a demand for an Australia-wide system for all aged care homes if the technology works.
We hope so. This project could be a game-changer for all aged care staff – saving hours of manual data-logging time that could be better spent with residents.
