Ready for a cringe-worthy walk down memory lane?
A team of researchers from the National Library of Australia have been collecting snapshots of the internet since 1996 – and now you can see them all in the library’s digital archives.
The snapshots of countless websites provide a bizarre insight into the beginnings of the Internet and some long-lost memories of late-90s and early-2000s Australian culture.
It seems that we were very interested in bright neon colours and rotating images back in the day – with some highlights including the very yellow The Wiggles home page (pictured) and the very purple website dedicated to 2000s sweethearts, Bec and Lleyton Hewitt.
It seems the library has taken a page from Space Jam’s book. The 1996 classic film hasn’t changed its website since it was first put up – so we’ve got this piece of art forever.
Some memories are too special not to preserve.
