In case we didn’t have enough creepy crawlies in the country, three new variants of the Peacock Spider have just been discovered in Western Australia.
Not-for-profit group Project Maratus, who have been searching for the spider across WA, have stumbled on quite a few new species since 2017 – and this week they found the maratus aquilus, maratus felinus and the maratus combustus.
These tiny, beautifully-colourful arachnids are known for their playful mating dances, which you can see in action here.
Luckily, they’re not harmful to humans – that said, if I find one on the toilet seat, it’s a goner.
