Finding purpose in getting older: the organisation helping aged care residents foster their ‘spirituality’

0

Spiritual care is widely acknowledged as an important part of holistic care for everyone, including older people and people living with dementia.

Recent studies have shown that spiritual health was linked to both wellbeing and an older person’s ability to adjust to the challenges of ageing – and there is an organisation which aims to bring these benefits to our aged care residents.

Meaningful Ageing Australia is a not-for-profit organisation that has been operating since 2013 which specialises in spiritual care resources and education services for residents and their families and carers.

They also offer two 30-minute e-modules – ‘Spiritual Care: an integral part of caring’ and ‘ConnecTo Spiritual Screening Tool’ for aged care staff explaining concepts like understanding spiritually and introduction to spiritual care.

You can find out more about their resources here.
