The US President tweeted last week that he wanted “5G, and even 6G technology” for the country “as soon as possible”, claiming it was “more powerful, faster and smarter” than the current set up.
It seems that no one has bothered to tell Trump that while 5G technology is in development (some 5G phones are beginning to appear on the market through Chinese companies), it certainly hasn’t reached a stage of development where it could be rolled out to an entire country.
And as for 6G – tech giants and thought leaders haven’t even mentioned it and probably won’t for a long time. But Trump is still worried that America is “lagging behind.”
Sorry Mr Trump – if the US is lagging behind, it’s not in the tech department.
