Want to keep an eye on family members in aged care? This app is designed to help

CareApp is a new smartphone app that delivers real-time notifications updating them on their loved ones.

The app allows carers to photograph residents in their everyday lives and on social outings – with permission – while also updating their records, recordings anything from physical and mood changes to medication schedules.

CareApp founder, Allison Nikula, says that app is particularly helpful for those with multiple carers, and will help to “bridge the knowledge gap” between families, their loved one, their various carers and aged care provider.

The technology has been trialled by St Louis Home Care in South Australia in January 2018 and is being rolled out to its more than 250 clients and their families across Adelaide and Victor Harbour this year.

It’s cheap too. Access to the app per month will be around the price of a cup of coffee.

Surely, we can all afford that?
