Is this the best idea ever? Bali resort opens ‘beer spa’

1

Anantara Spa at Bali resort Anantara Seminyak is now offering guests the chance to unwind with a unique treatment – a beer spa.

Why? The resort says that beer is high in antioxidants which is thought to reduce acne breakouts, get rid of dead skin and increase its elasticity.

The ‘Beer Spa’ treatment includes a back massage followed by a Beer Scrub with coconut and beer – to draw out impurities – followed by a foot massage and a facial massage complete with beer toner to prevent those wrinkles and under-eye bags.

Guests can also combine the treatment with a Beer Bath (filled with water and Bali’s favourite beer Bintang) and a complimentary Beer Bucket so you can enjoy a cold one during your pampering.

Combining beer and beauty

Sounds bizarre, but it turns out beer spas aren’t a new concept. The first one was opened in Prague in the Czech Republic (unsurprisingly the Czechs have the highest beer consumption per capita in the world) before they spread to Eastern Europe and US.

This is the first one close to our backyard however.

The Spa claims the treatment will leave you feel awakened and refreshed – not how you’d usually feel after a visit to the pub, but at just AU$106 for your basic Beer Spa and AU$134 for the whole treatment, we’d give it a go.

Or for a cheaper option, just fill the tub at home with some Coopers.

Would you soak away your cares in a beer bath?
