Residents in Ennis in County Clare are desperately seeking a solution after a local herd of wild goats became so large “procreating like there is no tomorrow”, they’re now overrunning the town.
Apart from the 20 or so animals walking across main roads resulting in a number of near-misses, Mayor Tom McNamara said they’re now “getting up on top of cars and going around businesses at night time” (a real bunch of delinquents then).
Two were even electrocuted after they wandered into an electricity sub-station.
Despite the “huge frustration”, locals don’t want to see the goats, which usually live in bushland on the west side of town, culled. Animal welfare groups are now being contacted to see if the unruly group can be relocated. If that doesn’t work, mass castration is the next option (good luck with that).
In the meantime, wild animal signs have been put up to alert motorists of the potential traffic hazard.
No more kidding around then.
