Adults only: Seniors’ Week event puts new twist on ‘story time’

If you thought Senior’s Week was all about free denture checks, think again.

‘Raunchy Romance Storytime’ at Lane Cove Library in Sydney’s north is one of a series of free events hosted by the council for Senior’s Week where three actors read out passages from different romance novels.

So what’s it like? Author Tim McIntyre has just penned a piece for The Daily Tele to explain – in short, side-splitting.

The first time he got up on stage, he thought he’d turn the charm on: “I thought this was Senior’s Week,” he said. “But all I see here is a sea of young ladies.”

“Should have gone to Specsavers!” was one heckler’s response.

The content itself is “pretty lame” (lots of heaving bosoms and gazing into each other’s eyes), but the result is “more hilarious than any attempt at comedy could ever be.”

And as he says: “There are only so many ways you can get free wine and cheese on a Monday night.”

Raunchy Romance Storytime is at Lane Cove library, 6.30pm Monday, 23 April. Entry is free, but you need to book. For more information, click here. Funnily enough, it’s always a sell-out!
