Ruby Kate Chitsey of Arkansas formed the idea for her ‘Three Wishes’ campaign after seeing the financial struggles of residents at her local aged care home.
Ruby was saddened to discover that many were not able to afford small pleasures such as new clothes, haircuts or visits from their beloved pets on their low government health care payments.
The youngster quickly grabbed an old notebook and went around to ask residents, “If you could have three wishes, what would they be?”
With her Mum’s help, Ruby set up a GoFundMe page to raise money to grant the residents’ simple wishes. The project has been a huge success, raising thousands in its first month alone and bringing joy to dozens.
“She is a typical 11-year-old child, but she sees things that others can’t see,” Ruby’s mum told McKnight’s. “Other kids could walk through a room and just not see other people’s plight, but that’s not Ruby.”
She certainly sounds like very special girl to us.
